What is Scoopd?
Scoopd came about by two friends listening to each other share their experiences about vacations, business, great deals and realizing that "We are all experts at something. And most of our expertise comes from everyday living."
What kind of videos should I post?
There's something inside you that only you know, and that's what you should do a video about. Well, it might be true that others know something about it, no one can tell it like you do. Post a video telling the world what you know.
Why is it called Scoopd.com?
Because it's the inside scoop on the world. We're asking you to give the inside scoop, the real deal, how things really work, your take on things to people out there who will appreciate getting the advice.
Why am I posting these videos?
It's about telling the world what you know something about. Let's face it, we all have this store of knowledge that we keep and maybe tell a friend of two. How to fly to Syracuse, how to cook a turkey, how to get health insurance. But the information doesn't get shared. This site pulls from the innate desire to help the world by sharing what you know.
Can I get more examples?
Sure. Just watch some videos for ideas.
What do you call each posting?
It's called a scoop. The inside scoop on the world. You're posting a scoop. And when you've finished, just say "Scoopd out."
What's an example of what I might post?
Take something you know something about, and want to tell the world about it. How to ride the Metro in Washington DC; how to paint a baby's room; how to get a ticket to the World Series; the best way to fly to Beijing for the Olympics; where to get the best Philly Cheesesteak sandwich in Detroit; how to get a cab at midnight in Denver; how to visit colleges with your teenage daughter; how to get rid of pigeons from your townhouse in NYC; etc etc.
I'm shy. I don't want to make a video with me in it as the star?
Go ahead, try. Only you know certain things, so try it.
How do I get started with my video?
Well, you might say, "Hello, this is _______ and I have something to tell you about....." and then go from there. You might say, "Look, here's the deal on....." Or "Can I just tell you something?" Or just, "Shut up and listen a minute and I'll tell you how to do it." You get the idea.
Should I let my personality come through?
Yes. Tell it like it is. When you know how to do something, tell the world with confidence.
How are the videos organized?
In categories and tags. The categories are Automotive, Business, Computers, Consumer Products, Education, Entertainment, Family, Fashion, Food, Health, Life, Random thoughts, Reviews, Services, Sports, Travel, Tips and Fun. The tags are whatever words you use to further describe your video.
What's a review?
You know, a restaurant review or a store review, or a movie review. That kind of thing.
How long should the videos be?
Between three and five minutes, but longer or shorter is allowed.
Is it okay to have a sense of humor?
Sure, we encourage it. There's no reason why it has to be boring. Also if you're telling it your way it might just be funny to others. Let your personality come through.
Will you post anything inappropriate?
The subject of videos must fall within our Terms of Service. If you upload a video that violates our Terms of Service your video will be removed.
Can I post a scoop on anything?
Sure. As long as it does not violate our Terms of Service If it fits a category, great. If not, it can go into Quirky, our miscellaneous category.
